Maple sugaring
We tap our own trees, collect the sap by bucket and boil it down over a wood fire into syrup.
A family farm in central Illinois, and a small line of natural body care made by hand in our kitchen.
Hickman Farms is a small family farm outside Windsor. We keep pigs and laying hens, grow a big kitchen garden and a field of cut flowers, and tap our maple trees every late winter.
Our body care products started as things we made for our own family first. Everything is done by hand, in small batches, with the whole family pitching in.
Above all, we are a family of faith. We see this land and every season on it as a gift from God, and we try to care for it in a way that honors Him.

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1

We tap our own trees, collect the sap by bucket and boil it down over a wood fire into syrup.

Wild violets and dandelions are picked by hand and cooked down into homemade jelly.

Sweet corn, green beans, potatoes and carrots, plus rows of zinnias and sunflowers for bouquets.

The harvest gets put up in jars, and the woodpile gets split and stacked before the cold comes.
Small-batch natural body care, made with ingredients we'd use on our own family.

This summer we teamed up with No Bad Days Farm and Durbin Meats to host a Farm to Table Supper in Shelbyville, with every dish sourced from central Illinois farms, including green beans, potatoes, carrots, sweet corn and zucchini from our garden.
